UFC Fight Night 56 Uberlandia, Brazil – Ovince St. Preux vs. Maurício Rua Full Fight Review

Check out my recap and commentary of the Ovince St. Preux vs. Maurício “Shogun” Rua fight. I also use this opportunity to show off my UFC cards and memorabilia for each fighter.

When Shogun fights, I watch!! He’s a legend in the sport and done a tremendous amount in Pride and UFC. Of course, I’m rooting him over OSP.

The fight started fast with Shogun rushing OSP with an overhand right and OSP counters with a left hook, which drops Shogun. After a quick 20 seconds of GnP, the referee thankfully stops the fight and OSP is the winner.

Hopefully, this will be Shogun’s last fight. Even at the age of 32, he’s just fought too many times and I hate to see a serious injury.

UFC 179, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Jose Aldo vs Chad Mendes Full Fight Review

Check out my recap and commentary of the Jose Aldo vs Chad Mendes fight. I also use this opportunity to show off my UFC cards and memorabilia for each fighter.

I’ve been waiting for this fight for a while since it could be when Mendes finally gets his revenge. Overall it was a great fight, probably in the top 10 for 2014.

The fight was back and forth for five rounds. Each fighter landing great shots, rocking their opponent. If I were a judge, I could almost see this fight being a split decision because it was that close. In the end, Aldo retained his belt and Mendes goes back to his eternal #1 ranked status. One of the bright spots of featherweight division is seeing Conor McGregor fight either one of them in the next year.

UFC 179, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Glover Teixeira vs Phil Davis Full Fight Review

Check out my recap and commentary of the Jake Shields vs. Ryan Ford fight. I also use this opportunity to show off my UFC cards and memorabilia for each fighter.

Jake Shields is from my home town of San Francisco. I was pretty disappointed after his loss against Lombard and after the UFC cut him. Luckily, he landed pretty quickly with the WSOF and put on a submission and grappling clinic against Ryan Ford.

One of the best things about Shields is that he keeps pressing and moving forward. Even against monsters like Ford and Lombard, Shields looks like he has no fear. In the end, it was a rear naked choke submission. Congrats to Jake Shields and I’m hoping for more fights to come.
